Description | Which at-home treatments for snoring work best? A few drops added to a warm bath before bed can be used as a soothing wind-down. It's an enjoyable way to try out calmer evenings. Fans of essential oils also exist. Peppermint or eucalyptus, dabbed on a cotton ball near your pillow or diffused into the air, can ease breathing with their cooling, anti-inflammatory vibes. First up, consider how you're positioned when you hit the hay. The impact of rolling onto your side can be unexpected. Your airway narrows and those rumbling sounds are amplified when you sleep on your back because gravity pulls your tongue and soft tissues toward your throat. It's a quirky trick, but it's worked for many. To help them get off their backs at night, some people sew a tennis ball into the back of their pajama tops. Turmeric tea and ginger are examples of herbal remedies that have anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce swollen tissues. There is anecdotal evidence that some people swear by lubricating their airways at night with a drop of olive oil. A teaspoon of honey mixed with warm water and lemon before bed coats the throat, dampening vibrations. Instead, try sleeping on your side. When you sleep on your back, your tongue can fall back and partially obstruct your airway. To avoid rolling onto their back while sleeping, some people tie a tennis ball to the back of their pajamas. Avoid sleeping on your back. You can keep this posture all night long with the aid of a body pillow. Breathing becomes difficult and snoring gets worse due to congestion. Using an adjustable bed base or an additional pillow to raise your head four inches can help you breathe easier and encourage your jaw and tongue to move forward, opening your airway. Before going to bed, use a neti pot or nasal spray to rinse your sinuses with saline. Another way to help open nasal passages is to use mentholated products like rubs or strips, or take a hot shower. Try to keep your head up. This is a simple yet surprisingly effective trick! Snoring occurs when air cannot pass easily through your throat and nose while you sleep, which causes the tissues around them to vibrate. Thicker mucus and an increased risk of airway blockage can result from dehydration. Throughout the day, drinking enough water keeps the body hydrated and lowers the risk of snoring brought on by mucus accumulation. When it comes to preventing snoring, staying hydrated is crucial. Men's snoring can be effectively treated by sleeping on your side, which also lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke. As well as reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke, sleeping on your side is a proven cure for snoring cure surgery in men. |
